Why
does the TVA have a board of directors?
TVA is a non-profit organization. The board of directors is
elected to oversee the operations of the association.
How
is the board selected?
The TVA board of directors is decided by a vote of the entire
membership which is held in December of each year. Elections
typically take place during the week of playoffs. An announcement
regarding this meeting is posted within the Tidewater Volleyball
Center and on this web site.
How
are officers elected?
Officers are chosen by a vote of the board of directors.
Is
the TVA Board of Directors compensated?
No. All members serve on a volunteer basis.
How
long do board members serve?
Each board members term is for two years. There is no limit
to the number of terms a board member may serve.
What
are the general responsibilities of a TVA board member?
TVA board members are required to attend most monthly meetings.
During these meetings, financial, procedural and other association
concerns are discussed. Members of the board must decide what
items to act on and how to vote. Board members are also encouraged
to serve on one of TVA's committees.
